GSS3.1 - Machine configurations

We are getting to grips with moving from GSS2.5 to 3.1, and have an instance of GSS3.1 setup, with a selection of test machines in it, an x64 WinPE 10 automation environment with relevant drivers in it. I can install the agent, automation environment, take an image, and deploy an image. So far so good.

 

The area where we do have some confusion relates to machine configurations. Installing the Altiris agent on our test machines pulls their configuration down, i.e. the machine name, AD info, OU path etc.

 

How do we get the existing configurations back down to a machine after sending an image down to it? Is it simply a matter of ticking "Automatically perform configuration task after completing this imaging task" and ticking "Boot to production to complete configuration task" on a Distribute Disk Image task?

 

Or do I have do it through some other mechanism, such as a "Modify Configuration" task? Looking at the options of that doesn't seem to yield what i'm after.

 

Much appreciated if someone can advise how I can achieve the existing configurations being sent down to machines that have been reimaged. Also - does the use of sysprep impact the ability to do this?
